Our Story
BSSA CPA's has a long history in public accounting in the Jackson area. We began as two separate accounting firms, Dove, Hickey & Boswell, PLC, and Schultz & Sonnenberg PC, and combined as one firm in January 2019.
Joe Boswell became the managing member of Dove, Hickey, & Boswell, PLC, when he purchased the firm from George Dove and Paul Hickey in 2011 as they transitioned into retirement. After having worked together in another firm since the early 1980’s, George and Paul founded Dove & Hickey, PLC in 1995, setting the standard of excellence to provide high quality accounting and tax services to businesses and families in Jackson and the surrounding communities.
Joe Boswell has continued that commitment to quality. January 2017 brought with it the promotion of Allison Arnett to partner. Allison has been with the firm since 2000 and is a dedicated associate with a commitment to excellence. While Joe’s expertise lies in the areas of individual and business taxation and finance, Allison has a depth of knowledge and experience in the areas of auditing and accounting.
Schultz & Sonnenberg, PC, began as Kuhl & Schultz, PC in 1990. The passing of William Kuhl and the addition of Todd Sonnenberg resulted in the renaming of the firm to Schultz & Sonnenberg, PC. In an effort to maintain their tradition of superior service while at the same time plan for future continuity and growth, the combination of Schultz & Sonnenberg, PC with Dove, Hickey and Boswell, PLC became a reality, and we became Boswell, Schultz, Sonnenberg & Arnett, PLC.
As a firm, we strive to maintain and uphold the reputation of excellence that our clients and colleagues have come to count on.
